Matte Taupe Eye and Natural(ish) Pink Lip Tutorial

Since the sunshine has been hitting the normally, wet and rainy Wales, I have been wearing very light summery and shimmery colours on my eyes, but today I wanted to do something complete opposite and went dark and matte!

I forgot how to smile... !

You have seen how I do my face make up in a previous post (See Here). Exactly the same process, except I used the Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit in Light to Medium and the Make Up Revolution Blush in WOW!

I also filled in my eyesbrows using the ABH Dipbrow Pomade (Eyebrow tutorial here)

Onto the Eyes>>>

To start I used the NYC Cityproof 24hr Waterproof Eyeshadow in TRIBECA TAUPE.

Sidenote: I picked a couple of these up from my local Poundland and absolutely LOVE them!!

I add this all over the lid, as it is going to act as a primer due to its creamy texture.  I then take a pencil brush and try and blend out the edges to give it a seamless finish.

I then added to the Maybelline Colour Tattoo in PERMANENT TAUPE over the top of this.

They are both practically the same colour when applied, however the addition of the colour tattoo gives a more block colour.

Next, I added the Urban Decay single eyeshadow in TEASE to the crease. This is another taupe colour, but has a little more brown in it.

I used a the Urban Decay Naked 2 brush, using the fluffy end to blend the colour into the crease, using a wiper motion, and then small circular motions to blend the colour upwards.
I used the flat end mark off the edges, giving them a little more definition.

Next I added the Makeup Store Microshadow in DESERT.

This is a very light colour that is so fantastic for blending out a smokey eye. To apply this, I used the Real Techniques Deluxe Crease Brush using small circular motions to apply this to the brow bone.

I then used the shade WHITE NOISE from the Makeup Revolution GIVE THEM NIGHTMARES Salvation Palette,

I added this to the inner corner to brighten this area, and also under the eyebrow to complete the blended out look. I used the Vintage Cosmetics Eyeshadow Brush for this.

I then curled my lashes using an Emite Eyelash Curler.

Next, I applied the MaybellinE EyestudiO Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner in 01 BLACK.

I applied this using a Da Vinci Eyeliner Brush. I made a small wing on the out corner, and also brought the liner right down to the tear duct, making a small point in the corner, and bringing it a little along to the lower lash line.

Next... Mascara...

I used the Urban Decay Perversion Mascara and Subversion Lash Primer.

The Lash Primer is like a white mascara that helps the lashes look thicker and longer.

I then added the Perversion Mascara on top of the primer to get longer, thicker, blacker lashes.

Then, I added false lashes. I used the Ardell Wispies. I love these lashes so much and am yet to find any that I love more. They give a full, long and thick appearance. They're just beautiful and so affordable.

I also use the Duo Waterproof lash glue and Tweezerman tweezers to apply them.

Onto this little beauty next.

This lipstick is one of my new favourites in my little (hah!) stash.

This lipstick is by Barry M in the shade 514 GENIE.
It looks very scary, in that it's GREEN! But this lipstick is truly magical. It reacts with the P H in your lips, and turns your own unique shade of pink.

On me, it's kind of a fuschia colour. It looks more like a lipstain, but the colour really lasts all day, and it's so lightweight. Perfect for a pop of colour with any makeup look as you know that the colour it changes to, will be unique and perfect for you!!

So this is the final look. Everything is completely matte. Not an ounce of shimmer anywhere. Sometimes I love this kind of look, especially when I need a day off from the glitter, (although I do LOVE glitter!!)

Don'y forget to leave me comments on this look. I love hearing your feedback.

Until next time,

Kimmy
